  • Good Ideas For Conservation  By : GARKO
Many concepts are circulating on how to use less gasoline through conservation. If you talk to a construction worker driving a work truck loaded with equipment who has to get 14 MPG driving that monster or else be out on the street then he would certainly be hurt greatly by such a surcharge or excise tax.

While various materials such as steel and lead slice on contact, the edge of the welder retains just a slight amount of heat. Klein says he has run into his share of skeptics, even though it’s a normal electrolysis process. The HHO forms an ideal mixture of the atomic energy of hydrogen and the natural stability of water. “There isn’t any other gas that will do this” – Klein says.

  • Why Do Are Diesel Prices Higher In California?  By : GARKO
Diesel prices on the West Coast, especially in California (CA), are routinely higher than in other sections of the country, especially because of higher taxes, but mainly due to supply issues. California state tacks on a combined State and local sales and use tax of seven and a quarter percent on top of the Federa; tax which is just shy of a quarter per gallon and an 18.0 cents/gallon State tax. The State of Washington’s tax of thirty four cents per gallon is one of the highest in the country. In addition to taxes, West Coast retail prices are more variable than others because the supply sources are few and far between: If operating difficulties pop up at two or more refineries in the region, the diesel supply may become very restricted and prices may spike. The West Coast’s lack of proximity to Gulf Coast and European refineries are such key issues that any unusual increase in demand or imedence of availability results in a large price response in the market before back up supplies can be delivered. The greater the distance to the source of the backup supplies, the higher and longer the retail price increase will be.
  • Why are California Diesel Fuel Prices Higher And More Variable Than Others?  By : GARKO
Retail prices for diesel on the Pacific Coast, especially in California (CA), are comparatively higher than other regions of the country, especially because of meatier taxes, but mainly due to supply problems. The State of California collects a combined State and local excise tax of 7.25% in addition to the 24.4 cents/gallon Federal excise tax and an 18.0 cents/gallon State tax. Also, the state of Washington’s tax of thirty four cents per gallon is one of the steepest in the country. Besides taxes, West Coast retail prices fluctuate more than in other areas because there are relatively few supply sources: If more than one refinery in the region experiences operating difficulties at the same time, the diesel supply may become very tight and prices may spike. The Pacific Coast’s lack of proximity to Gulf Coast and foreign refineries are such key issues that any substantial increase in demand or imedence of availability can cause a large price fluctuation in the market before back up supplies can be delivered. The farther away the necessary relief supplies are, the higher and longer the retail price increase will be.

This is particularly an issue in places where there has been some emergency, a natural disaster or such which would have as one of many consequences, some increase in price but then some station owners take advantage of such as was the case in Katrina stricken locations a couple of years ago. When the government does this type of investigation they will frequently publicize it and the announcement often helps to ease prices a little, but usually, the investigators simply head home with a report that says the prices are fluctuating based on demand.
