Where to Trade In Video Games, or Sell My Games for Cash

By: Brandon Perton

The concept to trade in video games has been around for at least a decade. All while watching the used video game market striving since the release of the Super Nintendo. The idea of trading in your video games is turning your old unused video games, into something new and exciting.

There are many large chain stores, and online companies; that offer fair trade in vales for your used games. The down side is, too many large companies only offer; gift cards, and or store credits. Store credits, and gift cards can be a good payment option if you want to buy your next video game from them. Some of these chains will actually pay you a lot less if you would like cash from them. With several of these companies not even offering cash as a payment method; which you the seller must decide if these options are acceptable to you.

Many of these large trade in stores, don't allow you to trade in or sell older games. If you are looking to sell Nintendo NES game, or Playstation, PS1 games, you might have a tough time actually being able to trade these particular games in.

With some of these online companies being so big, they outsource their video game trade in department. Which means a third party person or company will inspect your games and or consoles for functionality. This in theory sounds fine, but the consumers have gotten the wrong end of the stick so to speak with this. Many times customers have been burned, by these companies saying no game was included in the game cases. So ultimately you the consumer will not get paid, and lose money in the end.

So if you have a lot of older games and console you want to trade in. Look for local small video game stores, that specify in allowing trade ins for these consoles. Many smaller game stores, also don't do store credits and/or gift cards which is nice. With the economy still struggling the need to obtain cash rather than store credits; certainly will have its effects on many consumers.

In conclusion, many of the larger video game trade in companies are more established with their brand name. At the same time they don't necessarily have to offer the best service or cash for your games. In that case I recommend the option to deal with local video game stores which specialize in buying and selling older video games. Smaller local businesses don't have their company as established as the big guys, so they are more likely to work with their customers and give them better deals and cash for their used video games.
