Here's a story about why it is a good idea to keep in touch with a friend from school (especially a friend from Turkey):

We were traveling on a cruise (Princess Cruises) on the Mediterranean and the ship stopped in Istanbul. Thanks to email, we had previously let our friend Nino know about our arrival date and he met us at the dock. The procedure to enter is time-consuming, so plan on waiting. He left his work for the day and we were delighted to see more than the Grand Bazaar.

We viewed the city from a tower (with a wooden spiral staircase), from a tea place and then had lunch in a restaurant called Cafe Karakoyum overlooking the Golden Horn. It's more than a cafe! It's a bazaar of dishes.

What a selection of food! Our best description is -- go there. Words can not fully help you understand the cultural immersion that you will feel with each bite.

What can we say to catch your attention? What words could move you to make time to skip a mosque or the Sofia or Topkapi so that you can live like a local for 90 minutes? Tell us and we'll write them now so that you can rearrange your life to try this friendly and traditional restaurant's offerings.
