Teaching Your Children While Having Fun.

Even given the truth that we live in a technology focused society nowadays, but the recognition of instructive wooden toys in no way seems to diminish -- either with children or with parents.

These kinds of toys can provide a lot of play value yet, simultaneously, these can also help a youngster learn the talents that he or she needs as they grow on a mental and physical basis.

Wooden toys can have all kinds of priceless instructive effects on children and they are particularly valuable for babies, toddlers and pre-school children. Wooden jigsaw puzzles, for example, can teach problem solving skills and can help with fine motor control.

Wooden instruments will help a young child to learn co-ordination and, of course, help them learn about music and sound. Wooden games will help a baby learn important social skills such as the way to share and take turns.

If you are purchasing a wooden toy as being a gift then the easiest way to pick the right wooden toy for any youngster is to ask their father and mother what they think. Firstly they will be able to tell you what toys the child already owns so you do not give them a duplicate gift.

If you are buying for your own child you`ll have to think about their age and development stage before making a purchase. Toys in this day and age should be available with an age guideline label which tells you the ages that may safely play with the toy.

Do be aware, however, that the actual age of your child might not precisely match their development age and stage. Some children, for instance, may be advanced in certain abilities and some may lag behind every now and then. So, look at how a youngster will cope with a wooden toy or game before buying it.

Gender could possibly be an issue here as well. Though very young children often show no gender bias, they learn all about gender quite rapidly and may well refuse to experiment with toys purchased for the wrong gender.

Finally, don`t just expect the wooden toy to carry out the academic job here -- playing games and playing with educational toys together as a family can significantly improve your child`s development. When the whole family sits down to play together then you will assist your youngster`s social, linguistic and interpersonal skills.

Early Learning Goals:
The early learning goals are the 6 main areas of a young child's development and learning.

They set out what most children are expected to achieve by the end of the Foundation Stage (the end of the reception year). That is so they are ready to work on the national curriculum at Key stage 1 of primary school.

Personal, social and emotional development:
Build up self-belief and independence while learning to focus and to enjoy sharing as part of a group.

Communication, language and literacy:
Learn about communicating with one another and develop skills in talking, listening, writing and reading.

Mathematical development:
Use ideas about figures, amount, measurement, shape and space.

Knowledge and understanding of our world:
Investigate and begin to know the items, places and other people around them.

Physical development:
Expand control and coordination of their bodies while learning to maneuver and to handle equipment.

Creative development:
Find methods to communicate using colour, shape, sound, texture, movement and stories. The better way for younger children to work towards these goals is by learning through play. A good, mixed range of toys will help your youngster develop in these areas.
