The automatic water softener works on a schedule that you set. Every day at that time, it regenerates its salt. With this you could end up wasting a lot of salt. It has a built-in meter that measures the amount of water consumption and works all on its own, without the need for supervision. The water softener system is in control of the salt instead of a timer. When you save salt you save money. This system seems to be the best, because it will save you the hassle of always adding salt, but it will also use less of it.
