How to Deliver the Perfect Wedding Speech

Weddings are merry occasions where newly-weds are accepted into the world of marriage. It is also a time to welcome and thank the family and guests as a great part of a couple's life together, and there is always that part when a family member or a special friend is asked to speak as a confirmation of that. Whatever purpose there is to a perfect wedding speech, preparation is a first-priority task.

You can start by having a comfortable state of mind. Take a deep breath and relax. Fight that feeling that something is getting on your nerves. You can keep your confidence when you are well-rested and when you motivate yourself that you are given the duty because you are capable. Do not worry about being criticized. Write down the speech and familiarize with what you have written. It is also helpful to take down important points and write them on cue cards rather than read everything. You will be more spontaneous and realistic. Reading too much will not give 'life' to your speech.

Have someone read your summary .Someone you can rely on to check whether something might have to be removed or something else better has to be mentioned to make a perfect wedding speech.

Introduce yourself, your relationship with the couple and their special relationship with each other. Just be careful as to some experience that they might have shared with you but would be awkward to share with the rest of the guests.

Always be conscious of the time allotted for your speech. People will have shorter attention spans as the speech gets lengthy. And the more it becomes tedious for them to listen. Besides, there are still other parts of the celebration.

Nevertheless, you have to speak clearly and keep a natural pace. While you have to keep track of the time, you don't have to be too much in a hurry that the couple or guests will have a hard time getting your point. Remember, your speech has to inspire them.

Keep the joyous mood. Do not be melodramatic. Share more of the happy thoughts about married life. You can share about turning the not-so-good experiences into a positive aspect rather than imply how some marriages end up horribly.

Keep the audience interested in your speech by adding humor. You may put in some funny marital quotations or a joke to break the ice. This will liven up your speech. However, a point to remember is, do not give unrelated or offensive jokes. Never embarrass anyone. Rather, give funny yet insightful tales about married life.

Do not forget to thank everyone. Be sincerely grateful that they have come to celebrate with the couple and support the family's special occasion. Congratulate the couple and leave some words to live by. This will be something that they will keep in mind. And then, wish them well as they take on a new journey in life.

Finally, don't think of it as a task where you have to give more than desirable expectations of yourself because even a perfect wedding speech isn't that perfect after all.
