Decorating Your Home For Autumn.

By: Rick Skuw

Decorating for fall is a simple thing to do! You really do not need to go out and spend a great deal of money in materials to put together a very beautiful seasonal decoration for fall. Mother nature has provided nearly everything you require to create an autumn wreath, fall showpiece, outdoor decoration, or mantle arrangement.

To get you off to a good start, we've placed together some recommendations on fall decorating.

Beginning with the front entrance. Try to make your front door welcoming with a pleasant wreath. Look for twig wreaths as a base for autumn decorations. Add berries, acorns, and a few leaves. That is all you need to brighten the entrance. Use a grapevine wreath as a base for sunflowers and other autumn flowers. Add warm gold, rust, and brown. Or, use a eucalyptus wreath to give off the fragrance of fall.

Brown tones can help to add a little warmth.
Warm up your living room. Add a couple of candles in apple and cinnamon scents. Add autumn - colored toss pillows. Grab a rust, gold, olive, or light brown coloured throw and drape it over an armchair or the settee. Fill vases with dried hydrangeas. Position twigs in vases, and add an acorn wreath to your wall. Fetch out a few old, worn publications and place them on your coffee table or add a tray full of tiny brown ornaments. Place large baskets on the floor to hold magazines.

Turn the Kitchen a fun place to be in.
Have fun in your kitchen. Pick up an autumn - themed tablecloth or runner. Put a basket on the table and cram it with gourds. Put out your autumn print dishtowels and matching potholders. Try to find an apple cookie jar and apple clock. Place an autumn scatter rug on your ground near kitchen sink. Check the stores for coffee-colored drinking glasses, fun mugs, bright bowls, and plates.

Wicker can add warmth to the bathroom.
Warm up the bathroom with fall - colored towels. A few hand towels on the towel rack could make a huge change. Put candles on your vanity and put in a dried-flower arrangement. Put in a diffuser with apple, orange, or cinnamon scents. Try to find hand soap in autumn scents or decorative soaps. Transform the shower curtain or bathroom curtain with warm fall colors. Add a wicker clothes hamper to soften the room.

Make changes in the bedroom. Take off the summer bedspread and put on a thicker, warm comforter. Toss a few pillows onto the bed, maybe even add a throw. Put candles on your dresser and pile up some books. Add a few dried flowers, apple-scented hand lotion and an apple-scented diffuser to your nightstand. Put up a wall photo of an autumn scene. You now have a cozy bed room for autumn.

Cool nights, clear days, and colourful plant life are all a part of fall. Use your imagination and add pumpkins, cornstalks and colourful fall - themed items to your home. Just look to the outdoors for inspiration. Take note of autumn colours and smells, and envisage how to bring that autumn warmth into your autumn nights. Stimulate your senses, and you'll be inspired.

I do enjoy doing work around my home. One of the jobs I enjoy the most is carrying out building maintenance types of work. I find it helps me to unwind and forget everything, apart from the work I am doing of course.
