Business Psychology Students at The Platt Retail Institute at The Chicago School Release First Quart

By: Dominic Lin

The business psychology students of the Platt Retail Institute at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology recently released the first quarter data for 2011 in its Journal of Retail Analytics. This publication not only showcases the current state of the economy on the whole, it also shows how it impacts the general consumer, retail outlets, and provides in depth information on news from the industry of digital signage.

The Journal not only highlights the work of some of the top columnists of the industry, it also provides case studies that have been completed by masters psychology students at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology as well as a great deal of current research. Some of the work that is featured and currently being done by business psychology and masters psychology students includes how digital signage can be effective in higher education, as well as summaries of various other Platt Research Institute research reports.

Reports such as those conducted by recent graduate students, provide both primary and secondary research for the journal, and various other students within the program provide supportive research and oversee the general practices that lead to publication. This leads to in depth reports such as one recently completed with the assistance of masters psychology student Maria Szczech on how in store advertising compete for the attention of consumers.
Students in the program enjoy working on reports and collaborating with the journal because it allows them to gain a form of experience that is invaluable, and improves their research skills in a manner that gives them confidence which is carried right into the real employment world. The fact that students have access to an industry leading research and consulting firm that is affiliated with school is another benefit that is simply unbeatable.

There are a variety of publications and resources that Platt Research Institute students, interns, and associates contribute to, such as the Journal, webinars, many different forms of research reports, and the Platt Retail Institute's North American Digital Signage Activity Index.
Students, researchers, and educators alike all benefit from working together on the publications and completing the various forms of research. This allows for a strong foundation that gives business psychology students the ability to put their skills to work almost immediately. This serves the client quite well, and offers a type of real world experience that is uncompromised and simply unlike any other type of educational program.
