3 Reasons to Stop Cooking Your Own Food

By: Cheow Yu Yuan

Does the idea of not cooking while still enjoying a delicious, high quality meal prepared from fresh ingredients sound like a dream come true? Of course it does! Most people who have to prepare their own meals every night dream of kicking back to relax or doing other things while someone else does the work for once.

That dream can come true when you decide to stop cooking for a night and allow a restaurant to slave in the kitchen for you. If you select a restaurant with a deliver service, you can do whatever you want at home while waiting for the doorbell to ring.

As if by magic...your food is delivered!

If you're thinking that sounds very nice but you cannot get away with that in real life, consider some very good reasons that can justify ordering out tonight.

1. You deserve a break every now and then.

Everyone deserves a break from the kitchen. Whether you love to cook or completely dread it, you should take a night off at least once a month. When you give yourself that break you make cooking the rest of the time more enjoyable, or at least not quite so dreadful.

You work hard to create delicious, healthy meals for yourself and your family, but you need some time off to just relax or get other things done around the house.

If you really feel bad ordering out rather than cooking your own meal, think of it like a vacation from work. Most people get some vacation time each year from work because it refreshes them so they can do a better job the rest of the year. The same logic applies to your one-night vacation from cooking.

2. It is easier to come up with unique recipe ideas when you explore different types of food.

You probably have a set of recipes that you use over and over as staples in your kitchen. These are meals that your family enjoys and that you can whip up quickly because you know exactly how to prepare them. You automatically buy the ingredients for these meals when you go to the grocery store.

Wouldn't it be nice to mix in something unexpected and fresh from time to time? You would probably be surprised at how open your family would be to tasting something new from time to time. Working with new recipes also allows you to find more family favorites so the list of favorites grows and you aren't making the same things all the time.

Ordering from a delivery service is the best way to think of new foods to try in your own kitchen. Experiment with new flavors and ingredients that you don't normally work with by tasting them from a professional kitchen. You can then create what you enjoy for yourself.

3. You can get a lot more done every day when you cut out the time required to properly prep and cook a meal.

Finally, think of the time you would free up by giving yourself a break from the kitchen just once a month. What about once a week? You can easily justify enjoy a delivery meal if you are doing something more productive than cooking while waiting for the food to arrive.
